In August 1989, Joseph Stroup was ordered to pay child support for his four children in the amount of $100 per month. However, as a result of telling the court he was unemployed and medically disabled, his support was reduced to $14.00 per month. In 1996, the court learned that Stroup was operating a successful Internet business, which he ultimately sold for over $2 million.
The child support order was subsequently modified to account for the unreported income. From June 1996 to present, Stroup failed to pay any further child support. An arrest warrant was issued in July 1998, and Stroup is currently a fugitive from justice.
